STRIPclothingS has featured a series of blog post on technology and fashion. Today we celebrate the brand and shoe which made technology in footwear a must have in the noughties. The brand is Nike and the shoe is the air max 1! The STRIPclothingS office universally agrees that this is Nike’s most influential and most Iconic shoe. The #AirMax1 is 27 years old….Wow it seems just like yesterday when this baby was launched at a whooping 50gbp….To this day, we don’t believe Nike and in particular Tinker Hatfield the designer, has created anything better (Yes including the Jordan and Air Trainer 1)
Remember the film Back to the Future II? Remember the power laces? The trainer Marty Mc Fly wore?
Nike are also releasing the back to the future trainers in 2015! The self lacing trainers are modelled on character Marty Mc Fly. The trainers are created to replicate the actual trainer that Marty wore. The trainer includes the futuristic look completed with the lights! Although the trainers initial pairs auctioned in 2011 for the Michael J fox foundation did not feature the power laces hence the name SELF lacing, #TinkerHatfield (The God Of Trainer Designers) in a recent interview revealed Nike has just patented the technology for self lacing shoes!!! This could introduce a whole new cycle of new sneaker freaks.
It’s a shame they don’t feature the actual power laces now! Because we have some really lazy and uncoordinated (You want to see them on the Dance floor…Not!) people in the STRIP offices that could do with the footwear tying themselves up. #KeepitSTRIP
